  3.     The band has rarely appeared in public, but one face is
  4. familiar. RIVER PHOENIX, 18, his sister RAINBOW and three friends
  5. will perform their own music in a February "Rock Against Fur"
  6. benefit at New York City's Palladium organized by People for the
  7. Ethical Treatment of Animals. Phoenix, a vegetarian, does not wear
  8. leather "except on some films when I've had to for the character."
  9. His strong convictions about the environment and animal rights are
  10. a legacy from his flower-children parents. "You have to make
  11. changes in life to fit your ethical and moral beliefs," he says.
  12. In the forthcoming Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the third
  13. movie in the Raiders of the Lost Ark saga, he is, by his own
  14. account, a "boy on a train." But the teen idol, who was born in a
  15. log cabin in Oregon and has lived in almost 40 different homes with
  16. his peripatetic family, was reportedly typecast and plays the
  17. adventurer Jones as a youth.
